[Another drowsy stir, and Simon finally stretches out with a yawn, hand reaching out to the side for nothing in particular.]

[Might be reaching out for nothing in particular, but guess what you get!

That's right. Papa. Cloud gently takes Simon's hand in his and squeezes.]

[Being blind for so long has given Simon a chance to learn quite a bit by feel - and he's held Cloud's hands enough time to know the size and shape, every little scrape and scar and callused bit of skin. So as he feels Cloud's hand close around his own, he smiles, squeezing it in return.]

Papa... you're back...!

Mm. I am. [Cloud lifts the back of Simon's hand to his mouth to kiss it; the boy's hands were still very small, but there was a strength there that hadn't been over a week ago, when Cloud had last held Simon's hand.]

How're ya feeling?

[His brows lifted abruptly, and he sat up a little, amazed. His free hand lifted to his cheek and neck, feeling no soreness or sensitivity, no strange, irritating rash. It was gone...]

Papa... Papa, I feel great! It doesn't hurt or itch and I'm not tired!

[Even though it was only confirming what he already knew, Cloud still can't help but feel excited. He scoops Simon and hugs him. For a test. Y'know.]

[And Simon likely passes with flying colours because he immediately laughs and hugs Cloud back, looking for all the world like he was the happiest kid in the world.]

You're really okay? [It had been torture, watching his little boy waste away. It was like the epidemic in Edge all over again...walking through the streets, seeing men, women and children huddled in alleyways as they died.

Remembering his fear and dread when the bruise had formed on his own arm. Remembering his despair when Denzel's forehead purpled with the start of Geostigma. But now...there was a cure, there was a cure here.]

Really really!

[Simon beams, pulling back to give his cheek a pat before snagging Cloud's hand, lifting it to touch his face as well.]

It's gone, right? I can't see it but I knew it was there... and I can't feel it anymore... so that means it's gone, doesn't it?

[Cloud strokes Simon's cheek, grin growing wider even though Simon can't see it.] Yep, it's completely gone. I don't see anything at all.

[Even without seeing it, Simon manages to mimic his grin.]

Does that mean I can come home again!?

I'd say so. [Hair ruffle, goodness child WHY SO CUTE.]

[Simon damn near squealed in delight, launching himself in the direction he hoped Cloud was still in for a snugglefest.

[~~DODGE~~ Lol, kidding, IT IS SO SNUGGLEFEST TIEM RIGHT NAO. Cloud is cuddling his kid like there's no tomorrow.]

[Simon is a very happy camper right now.]

Is everybody else okay? Denzel, and Tifa, and Uncle Zack, and Miss Yoko, and everyone...?

Yep, everyone's okay, I promise. I even have a couple of new friends from my home I think you'd like to meet.

[Simon perks up.]

New friends, really? Yay! Papa's friends are really nice.
