[Well that was quick. Cloud's just sitting contemplatively on the couch, he hasn't even started packing yet.]

[Zack hadn't really been expecting him to start right away. He heads right in and sits down beside Cloud, not hesitating to wind an arm around his shoulders.] Hey, Spike.

[Cloud hums a greeting, but doesn't really move otherwise except to lean back against the couch.]

...I told her about us just before she disappeared, y'know. I'm sensing a pattern here.

[Zack frowns at that.] No one gets to choose whether or not to go home, though... why would they send her back because of you?

Maybe she wanted to go back that badly. [It's said half in jest; Cloud knows that's not how it works.]

[Ahh, Cloud. Don't be dumb. Zack gives Cloud's hair a light ruffle; it's less teasing and more affection than anything else.] Tifa loves you. The Malnosso are just jerks.

Both of which are the problem. [But he shakes his head and stands, gesturing for Zack to follow him to his room.]

C'mon. Like I said there isn't much, but we might as well get it done.

[Avoiding the issue won't make it any better, but... well, if he's going to avoid it, he can't pester Cloud into talking so soon after the fact.]

Good thing these places have three rooms, huh?

I'd have been fine with the couch. [For a while, anyway.]

Oh yeah? There someone else living there I don't know about? [This is Cloud's attempt at being cheeky as he starts gathering up his clothes and throwing them into a bag with reckless abandon.]

[Awww, Cloud, that was cute. Zack grins, recognizing the effort and not bothering to hide how pleased he is about it.] Don't ask, don't tell, man! It's my dirty little secret.

Mmm. I am asking, though.

If it could just be under better circumstances, right? [He's not even folding his clothes as they get stuffed in the bag, what a messy boy.]

[As if any boy would fuss overmuch about that, especially under the circumstances. Zack's "helping" in much the same way.]

...I wish I had good advice for you. It's not that I think she should get blindsided with it next time we see her, but... we hid it from her for a long time.

I think this just drives the point home that no matter how I say it, she's gonna get hurt.
