[This video starts up in a tree; there are a couple branches in the way and some ridiculously pale person with blond J-pop hair pacing around in a circle. He does this for a moment before squinting up at the camera.]

...what are you?

[He disappears from view, then the camera shakes violently following a dull THUD.]

Ow. That hurt.

[There's another thud and the camera shakes again before the journal topples out of the tree and onto the ground. It doesn't stay there for long; it's lifted and shaken out, and Cloud's face is captured for a moment until the camera settles on his chin instead.]

...when did I buy this thing? [And the book snaps shut.]

[It was almost laughable. Cloud, to Buffy, had always been one of those in Luceti who was a quintessential vet of the place. Here before she was, settled. To have the shoes on new feet? Well, it's weird.]

Anytime. And--I mean that, really...anytime you need some help or whatever. Just ask. You can hit me up over the journals or...or I work at a local watering hole called Good Spirits. Unless it's within the next week then I'm totally on vacation but--[talking too much!] Let's just say I'm used to enough to provide excellent assistance.

[A little bit, but it was more that she was being so damn NICE.]

I'm sorry I forgot you. [Cloud has a feeling he'll be saying this a lot.]

Hey, don't sweat it. [It's not like the feeling's new.]

...I guess I'll talk to you some other time. I got a lot to do, so I need to go.

[Maybe have a cup of coffee and let this shit sink in.]

Oh- is there a coffeehouse anywhere?

There's a cafe, yeah. It's in the middle of the village. [Pause.] Are you nearby? I could bring one to you. I mean...I'm not doing anything and it might be easier than giving directions. O-or not, y'know. If you'd rather let the caffeine do its work solo.

I'm getting my clothes right now; I don't mind meeting up, but I'm probably not gonna be real good company.

Oh, don't worry. I remember what kind of company you are.

[Some generic getting ready to leave the house noises.] I forget--do you take your coffee black?

[Hey what exactly is that supposed to mean? B|]

Black with two sugars.

[...You know exactly what it means.]

Fab. A-and, any landmarks?

...I don't know, the fountain? That big one in the middle?

Oh. [Amused.] Well, you might see me on my way to the cafe, then.

I need to get my phone first, so take your time.

[...Sound of a door.] I'll see you soon?

[And she'll probably see him sitting on the side of the fountain; looks like he hasn't got his weapons yet, but he is flipping his phone open and shut in contemplation.]

[She actually...sneaks by. Totally conspicuously. She doesn't want to show up for that first in person hello without coffee in her hands.

So, she comes back a little later with two cups. She holds one out to the other blonde.] Hi

[She's totally free to sneak, Cloud is way too preoccupied not paying attention to anything.

He will once she stops in front of him and hands him some coffee because yesss.]

Oh- thanks. Buffy. [It's kind of obvious that he adds her name at the end JUST to prove that he can remember it, but at least the gratitude is sincere enough. He sips the drink.] You're being awfully kind to just a proto-friend. Slow day?

[She sits next to him with a slightly rueful smile.] We did go for coffee, once. So we were at least proto-friends at the coffee level. And I pretty much feel that New Feathers can always use a drop or two of kindness. I know it sucks, waking up here.

Yeah...

I don't know. I don't think it's sunk in. [Flip flip on the phone.] I feel like I can just walk and eventually get somewhere I recognize. Or my signal'll come back and I can call someone to give me a lift.

The sinking in can be a bit of a...work in progress, yeah. As for a lift? Well--there's some kind of mystical barrier around the whole place. We're a hermetically sealed commune of mismatched hermits. At least we've got electricity, now--even if we don't get bars on our phones.

Yeah, that's what this other guy told me too. [SIGH. Gulp.]

Well, about the barrier thing. I didn't know about the electricity. That must've sucked, not having it.
