If you don't have a Lifestream keeping your Planet alive, what's holding it together?

I'm not sure even the Malnosso know that. Though considering what happens when they're removed, it's likely to be related to be our wings.

...so if we have to have these to live, that means the Malnosso have these too, right? And anybody else outside the barrier too.

That's right. Even the Third Party members have them, though they're much larger.
