The one that said that I would face one very ugly-ass vampire and die because of it. [Which, to be fair, was not incorrect. She had died--clinically, momentarily. CPR was a beautiful thing.]

No. [She sounds a touch apprehensive, but only because Cloud's curiousity feels a little odd. She wants to feel flattered by his interest.] After that, things got calculated.

[Really Buffy, he's just making conversation for the distraction. The boy isn't that sharp.]

Depends on your POV. [She'll relish the conversation she can get.] I told you about the organization I've got back home, right?

A couple thousand girls, all with the same Slayertastic abilities. [Which have happily returned back to half-strength in this particular Slayer.] Well? It's not supposed to be like that. It's only supposed to be one girl per generation. A chosen one gig.

[The concept was complicated even for those involved.] One girl on her own doesn't always last that long. So we changed centuries--no, more--of prophecy. No more one girl in all the world.

Ah- yeah. You told me about this. [Leading an army of teenage girls into battle. Cloud was lucky enough to only have to deal with one.]

Well, the point stands. There was a prophecy and we broke it.

[She hesitates, as though feeling exceptionally uncertain about the next line:] Hey, Cloud? Wanna go grab a cappuccino or a macchito? [More pausing, but this time to revise her sentiment.] Not a date or anything. Just a...a first annual and only meeting of the people leave and that kinda sucks but maybe coffee will help club?

I'm pretty sure there'd be a lot of members if we made a club like that.

But sure. Is in an hour okay? I'm packing up my stuff.

[It's true. Such a club's ranks would swell even at its creation. But right now, the fictitious organization was good enough to get some one-on-one chat time. Buffy is fairly certain that she hasn't seen Cloud face to face since the town meeting. Might be nice to get up to something a little more friendly-like.]

An hour sounds fab. How about that little cafe place? The one with all the K's in the title? [Pause.] I think it's still open.

[Because she didn't want to suggest Seventh Heaven.]

Sure. If it's not, we'll just go somewhere else. [He really wants his comfort coffee, thanks.]

[She doesn't mind, but instead waits patiently by the fountain. Normally she would grab a seat but, nope, not today. Too much residual awkward from the festival's outcome.

She is at least waiting trendily, well dressed with all her twenty-first century chic showing.]

[Yeah whatever, he's in a T-shirt and jeans. "Chic" does not register on whatever passes for his fashion-dar.]

[That's okay. Most of the time, the fashionista act is more about over-compensating for a non-normal social life. Pretty much her-centric.]

Late? [She waves a dismissing hand. Sure, she'd noticed. But she isn't going to go all librarian on his butt.] I didn't even realize.

Great. [He gestures lazily down the street.] Let's go find that K-whatever Cafe.

Do you know the way? [She asks rather redundantly, considering she has already up and started in the direction of the cafe.]

I figure I would wander around until you took pity on me and showed me where it is.

Do I really come across as so cruel? Because, darn, guess I better work on my people skills. [She sarcasto-smiles her way through that one while lifting an arm. She points (vaguely) in the same direction that they are headed in.]

Maybe a little bit, but we tend to make bad impressions on each other. I think it's our gimmick. [That way, then.]

We'd make a great '80s cop drama. [She gives him a side-long glance. Most of her more fun quips tended to go down badly with the other-worlders, but she persists regardless.]
