[Cloud sounds more resigned than anything.]

For those of you who know Tifa, she was sent back home.

Walter, don't worry about the expansion to Seventh Heaven now.

Tell me when's a good time to move my stuff down.

[She doesn't mind, but instead waits patiently by the fountain. Normally she would grab a seat but, nope, not today. Too much residual awkward from the festival's outcome.

She is at least waiting trendily, well dressed with all her twenty-first century chic showing.]

[Yeah whatever, he's in a T-shirt and jeans. "Chic" does not register on whatever passes for his fashion-dar.]

Hey. Sorry I'm late.

[That's okay. Most of the time, the fashionista act is more about over-compensating for a non-normal social life. Pretty much her-centric.]

Late? [She waves a dismissing hand. Sure, she'd noticed. But she isn't going to go all librarian on his butt.] I didn't even realize.

Do I really come across as so cruel? Because, darn, guess I better work on my people skills. [She sarcasto-smiles her way through that one while lifting an arm. She points (vaguely) in the same direction that they are headed in.]

Maybe a little bit, but we tend to make bad impressions on each other. I think it's our gimmick. [That way, then.]

We'd make a great '80s cop drama. [She gives him a side-long glance. Most of her more fun quips tended to go down badly with the other-worlders, but she persists regardless.]

[Go get some culture, Cloud. :| Says the girl who once tried (and failed) to impress a guy by saying how much she loved Emily Dickens.]

Really hokey kinda television show. Lots of drama and there's usually a gimmick, you see? Good cop, bad cop. The two play off each other and--[It really didn't matter. Explanations always ruined jokes, anyway.]

If it's any consolation? I'm pretty sure I now think you're at least only half as unapproachable as I first thought you were.

Oh, maybe the part where you gave me the super-cold shoulder from your hammock and then I was too wigged out to even try talking to you again for almost a year. [This is definitely the joking kind of snark, again.

Hey--no harm, no foul; after all, who's keeping score? [Besides her, obviously. She had gotten a major bad-times vibe off of him that day. Probably all of something intensely personal and absolutely none of her beeswax.

Luckily, the cafe's in door-opening distance so Buffy barrels past some gender expectation hurdles and goes goes ahead and cracks that puppy open for Cloud.]

It's just a door. [She sweeps a hand at him. Here cracks the very, very superficial facade of the Valley Girl. She's a doing sort of person and clearly felt a kind of protective call to the mission at hand, since she had been the one to suggest coffee from the get go. Perhaps it isn't the most important quest she has ever been on--but it ranks highly enough within this week.

Besides:]

If you say so.

[He sits down and sips his own coffee. ...wait, is this his cue to change the conversational topic? Oh crap, what to change it to, uhhhh...]

A bit. It...it went well. So, thanks for the advice.
